System Protection Turn On Or Off In Windows 10

One of the more useful features built into Windows 10 is System Protection, which regularly creates and saves the settings and critical system files in the operating system as restore points.

This helps you restore your computer back to the previous, more stable state, if anything goes wrong.

By default, System Protection will create restore points every 7 days if no restore point is created during this period. Though these are also created before any significant event like deploying of Windows updates, installation of new programs.

And, of course, you can also create them manually.

For now, though, let’s see how you can turn System Protection on or off in Windows 10.

1. Open the Control Panel, in Icons view, and click on Recovery.

2. Here, click on the Configure System Restore link.

3. If you are promoted by the UAC, click on Yes to continue.

4. Go to Protection Settings, and select the drive you want to manage system protection for. Then click on the Configure button to bring up the system protection panel for that drive.

5. Here you can turn on system protection for the given drive by checking the appropriate radio button under the Restore Settings section. Or disable it, if you want to turn it off.

6. You can also use the slider under Disk Space Usage to adjust the amount of space you want to use for system protection. The option to delete all restore points for that particular drive is also available here towards the end.
