Microsoft Announces the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
Microsoft has released another new build of Window 10 to Insiders; 16257 is now available to download for desktop users and mobile users can now install build 15237. In this release, there are new features related to eye control, console updates and Edge enhancements for desktop users.
As Paul wrote up earlier this week, eye control support is now being baked into Windows 10. If you have supported Tobii hardware, you can now setup the control feature that supports mouse movement, keyboard input, shape writing and text to speech. For those that need this type of feature, this new accessibility option will open the door to Windows 10 for those with challenges using a traditional mouse and keyboard.
Edge is being updated in this build with a refreshed design that now includes support for the Fluent Design System. Along with several bug fixes, Microsoft adjusted the design of the address bar to make it easier to copy text.
Finally, for those that use the console, the default colors have been updated for the first time in 20 years. The new colors are designed to give the console a modern feel and improve the legibility when compared to the previous darker colors.
For mobile users, there are a bunch of bug fixes but no new features in this release. That shouldn’t come as a major surprise anymore since Microsoft is moving away from this platform.
